During the height of the war there’s been so much destruction and lost of lives on Bougainville. Coming closer to my area in the Bovo valley, On the 4th of December reconciliation was held between the former BRAs and the victims of Tasipo villages.
The Victims who lost their properties, being assaulted, their relatives killed came forward and asked the former BRAs why their houses were burnt down, being assaulted and killed. The former BRAs came forward to explain why they did these and who gave them orders. They walked back and forth while talking, what we call Dangi in Nasioi language.
During the ceremony Commander Chris Uma’s name was mentioned and the victims together with the leaders gave praise and support to Chris Uma for taking the stand forward so that the former BRAs and the victims will live happily with their hearts and minds clear from knowing the truth.
Chris Uma told me later in a interviewed that he was a happy man because most of the questions in the air was clear, Tasipo platoon Commander B Demoi told me that the burden is now lifted.
The ceremony ended with shaking of hands with the victims and a feast.
