Many shops springs up in Arawa after the war, all of them are own by local indigenous Bougainvilleans. Many of these businessmen haven’t been to Business colleges, just what we called it “mekim na save”[do it and know it]. One shop owner told me, business is about profit and loss. This is what we are proud of because before the war only a few Bougainvilleans runs and owns a shop or business.
Out in the end of section 2 there is a take away or kaikai haus owns and run by Julian Jerry, I went there one afternoon near closing time than captured this picture of a girl taking all the last food left and enjoying her big meal while Julian the owner looks on with a big smile.
