Thanks for this. Can you re-upload the pics in bigger size please.
I want to read the stuff about all them ‘Natives’.
Panguna mine is the target. Who is doing the shooting? Whoever it is, those persons need to be pointed to the Utah Kennecott copper mine near Magna UT (www.kennecott.com/) where the tailings are cleaned up so there is no pollution messing up the groundwater nor the lakes, rivers and lands.
It is true that the open pit mine is so large it can be seen from space almost with the naked eye. This is something like Panguna. The difference is the pollution. Rio Tinto, who owns and runs Kennecott, learned to capture and profit from the pollutants instead of throwing them away.
I hope Meekamui learns from Kennecott and, with the proper restrictions to protect the land and water from pollution, the people can allow the mine to safely reopen. This would give work, education, productivity and prosperity to the island.
God gave the earth to mankind with a command to multiply with it. It is a shame to not put the minerals of the earth to work and use them to multiply the tools man can use to accomplish great good. The earth must be protected from unwise pollution, too. The wise will make certain the earth is used and replenished for the good of all mankind.
God bless you in these endeavors.
i remember the reef in and around Loloho being bleach from the boys smashing the tanks valves off the tanks and allowing the contents to spill into the bay, we (PMG) were tasked when we were there to record all the toxic substances loacted around the Loloho site, there was some very bad gear left there, we had a team arrive and start bagging these, however i dont know if they were all cleaned up, i hope so, i know that some defence members put in claims against dept of defence for deploying them to an area that contained toxic chemicals and not declaring what and where they were prior to deployment. so i can only imagine what affect these would have on the local, who were living around these sites prior to our arrival. Rio Tinto needs to deploy an approved team to clean, remove and assess what inpact these have had on their land, people and water. Clive i have many photos of my visit, most are of Rorovana Bay, where i spent a lot of time fishing and relaxing with the locals on weekends. if you want them i can forward them.
