As the the counting is coming closer to the end and  sometimes in the middle of June we will be seeing new leaders in the Autonomous Government of Bougainville,  Joanne Dateransi the President of Mekamui/Bougainville Indigenous Women Landowners Association appeals to the new leaders NOT TO SELL OUT OUR ISLAND.

” We have achieved our first goal that is to close the mine down and we kept it close to this day, now you leaders negotiate for our main goal that is Independence”.
“Remember the ones who were wounded and killed fighting for our Island, Remember the the women the mothers of the land, Remember the farmers who till the land for their living, Don’t sell out our Island.”

“Remember our Childrens future, Remember our Islands future, Remember our future oh leaders  Don’t Sell Out Our Island.”

In the Bible King Solomon solved a problem when two women both claimed that a baby belonged to them. He solved the problem by telling the women that he was going to cut the baby in half and give each their share. The woman whose child it really was, said “no” give the child to the other. The King then knew who the real mother was. The same holds true for the people of Bougainville. The women who are the true “mothers” of this land need to protect thier future generations and not let King Solomon cut their island in half.
